MV Big Red Community, We wanted to let you know about a situation that occurred. Sunday evening, Our administration was notified by a parent that a possible threat was made through digital communication. Our staff and law enforcement partners immediately began investigating and determined that NO THREAT was made towards the school, staff, or school. We take these threats very seriously, and work very close with our Local Police, County Sheriff's office, and our District Safety Team to ensure the safety of our school environment. Reflecting our commitment to safety, the Missouri Valley Police Department will continue to be visible on campus, and we will continue to practice our safety protocols.         This message is being shared to ensure open communication with our families. Thanks to generous donations from Performance Ag and Logan State Bank, all Missouri Valley students can attend events free of charge this year. To gain entry, students simply need to check in at the ticket booth, provide their name to the ticket taker, and receive a hand stamp after their name is crossed off the student list. All elementary students are required to have a parent/guardian with them to gain entry into the event and they must supervise them throughout the time they are at the event. #MVPride

I am excited to announce that online registration for the upcoming 2024-2025 school year is now open for all students in the Missouri Valley Community School District. Key Registration Dates: Online Registration Date: July 15, 2024 In Person Registration Dates: August 5 from 10:00- 7 :00 & 6 from 8:00 - 7:00 How to Register Online: Access the Portal: Visit our district website at www.movalleyschools.org and click on the registration button. Log In: Use your parent portal credentials. If you need assistance with your login information, please contact our district office at 712-642-2706, Ext 4. Complete Registration: Follow the prompts to review and update student information. You are able to pay for fees and put money in your child(ren)’s lunch accounts online while you register. Signature forms will be available at the District Office or at each building during in person registration on August 5 and 6. At this time we do not have the ability to do e-signatures with Infinite Campus. Important Information: Please your child’s information is accurate and up-to-date to facilitate a smooth start to the school year. Ticketing information for Saturday's District Baseball Game: All spectators will need to pre-buy their tickets at www.iahsaa.org/tickets/ or use a credit card at the gate. The more pre-bought tickets the better. Admission is $6.00 for all spectators. There will be no cash at the gate. **Tickets will be available July 3rd at 9:00 AM** Missouri Valley will play East Sac at the conclusion of the first game. Good luck players and coaches! #MVPride

Important Changes to Minor School License (MSL): Recent legislative changes will impact Iowa minor school license program, effective July 1, 2024. Significant revisions have been made to the legislation governing the issuance and usage of minor school licenses. Key points of the new legislation include: 1. Renaming the minor’s school license (MSL) to the Special Minor’s Restricted License (SMRL). 2. Expanding the SMRL to include work privileges. 3. Standardizing driving distances for all students and purposes. 4. Implementing more stringent penalties for traffic offenses while using the license. 5. The requirement for SMRL holders to always carry a parental consent form in the vehicle while driving and present it to law enforcement upon request. Under the new law, eligibility criteria for the SMRL remain similar to the MSL, requiring completion of driver’s education and holding an instruction permit for six months prior to applying. However, notable changes include the removal of the one-mile distance requirement for public school students and the reduction of the allowed driving distance to 25 miles for various purposes. We are happy to host the 2nd annual Morningside University Football Camp and their coaching staff! This is a team football camp for high school students, but individuals from other schools can attend as this is a great opportunity to develop skills and get a college football recruiting opportunity! Coach Allen on why Missouri Valley? "I chose Missouri Valley because of how welcoming and supportive everyone has been. The excitement I felt from talking to staff has been amazing which makes me excited to coach there. Missouri Valley believed in me and has given me a chance to do what I love to do which is coach football and teach young athletes to become young adults through the sport of football. My friends and family are excited for me which makes my level of excitement through the roof. It is a great opportunity and I am looking forward to it. " Coach Allen will hold a players meeting Wednesday, May 8th after school in the High School Auditorium. He will also have a parent meeting Thursday May 16th @ 6:00 pm in the High School Auditorium.
