We are thrilled to share that Missouri Valley CSD has increased from Acceptable to Commendable in the recent Iowa School Performance Profiles released by the Iowa Department of Education. This improvement reflects the tremendous efforts of our students, teachers, staff, and families. The Iowa School Performance Profile provides a snapshot of how well a school or district is serving students. We are incredibly proud that our district met and/or exceeded expectations in several areas that contributed to this commendable distinction. MVCSD students demonstrated strong performance gains in reading and math. Our talented teachers and staff work tirelessly to meet the needs of EVERY LEARNER, EVERY DAY. Their dedicated efforts in the classroom made these achievement gains possible. Beyond the test scores, MVCSD provides enriching opportunities for students to grow socially, emotionally, and behaviorally. From athletics to the arts, our well-rounded education empowers students to reach their full potential. This commendable recognition reflects our whole-child approach. If you would like to see the whole Iowa School Performance Profile for Missouri Valley, or any district in Iowa, please use the website link below and enter in Missouri Valley Community School. You can see our performance as a District or by individual building. https://www.iaschoolperformance.gov/ECP/Home/Index

Students in Applied Geometry have been working hard to understand transformations in and out of the geometric plane. With their newly attained knowledge, students created real world examples of proofs and tested Mrs. Malone's and Mrs. Arrick's ability to follow directions. This is just one of the many examples students are using to make math relevant to real life. #MVPride Standards included in the unit fall under Iowa Academic Standards G-CO.A,B,D (Experiment with transformations in the plane)

Last Spring Middle School Principal Mr. McDonald challenged our Middle School Student Council to go out in the student body and find words that describe what it means to be a student at Missouri Valley. The words were then used to create a word cloud. MS/HS Art Teacher Ms. Ellithorpe utilized her amazing skills to design and paint the word cloud on a wall connecting our middle school and high school buildings. Thank you Ms. Ellithorpe and great job Middle School Students who now have ownership and PRIDE in the hallways they walk every day! #MVPride

8th grade Literacy used www.blooket.com to work on mastering language skills and conventions of written language (capitalization and punctuation). Students competed in a timed activity called “Crypto-hack”. The person who collects/hacks the most crypto after 6 minutes is the winner. Points are based on accuracy and speed (and luck too). Students use this activity as a warm-up activity at the beginning of class.

7th grade computer science students were introduced to the open-ended, collaborative, and creative problem-solving process that they will use throughout the quarter. Students worked in teams to design paper towers that can stand as high as possible. Teams had two rounds to work on their towers, with the goal of trying to go higher than they did in the first round. This activity sets the stage for learning the steps of the problem-solving process in future lessons. Computer Science Standards * Compare and refine multiple algorithms for the same task and determine which is most appropriate. * Decompose problems into smaller, manageable sub problems to facilitate the program development process. *Take on varying roles, with teacher guidance, when collaborating with peers during the design, implementation and review stages of program development. #MVPride
