February is Dental Health Month! It’s a great reminder to encourage kids and teens to build strong oral hygiene habits early.
Brushing twice a day, flossing daily, and limiting sugary snacks are great places to start. 🪥🦷

Sixth graders prepared for a vocabulary quiz on “Hatchet” by Gary Paulsen. They supported one another by using the Mix-Pair-Share cooperative learning strategy to review challenging definitions. This strategy helps students build important social skills such as communication, active listening, and respectfully adding to one another’s ideas, while also teaching patience. 📚🤝

On February 5, 2nd graders celebrated the 102nd day of school with a morning full of fun and learning. Students kicked things off with a bright neon theme and math activities focused on adding up to 102! 🎉
The celebration continued with movement challenges to see how much could be completed in 102 seconds, a lesson on how suckers are made, and a sweet experiment counting how many licks it took to reach the end.
The morning wrapped up with a dance party bringing together Mrs. Franks’ class and Miss Schwenson’s class for a memorable milestone!

Miss Hailey from Loess Hills Ag in the Classroom visits MVE each month to teach students about different aspects of agriculture. During her January visit, students learned how butter is made and even had the chance to taste test their own creations! 🧈

Family Groups are a meaningful way to help students build relationships across grade levels and with staff. Each group includes about 10 students in grades K-5 and meets monthly to focus on character traits and community service. 🖤
These groups give students opportunities to connect with others outside their classrooms, helping to strengthen both academic performance and social-emotional wellbeing. The more connected a child feels at school, the more they thrive!
We’re proud to support learning that goes beyond the curriculum—one relationship at a time.

Miss Wallace’s students enjoyed singing, dancing, and moving their bodies in the music room! 🎶
Music and movement support communication, motor skills, sensory regulation, and social interaction, while also building confidence and giving students a fun way to express themselves.

Students worked collaboratively in groups to design and build bridges strong enough to support a heavy wooden truck using only foil, wrapping paper, and construction paper!
Through experimenting, they discovered that folding and layering materials significantly increased the strength of their structures. What a fun way to explore engineering, teamwork, and problem-solving! 🛻
