Mrs. Stessman & Mrs. Vasquez's Fourth Grade Students Learn About Forces And Motions

The fourth grade students in Mrs. Stessman's class have been learning about forces and motions. To finish up their unit, they applied their knowledge to make Rube Goldberg Machines. They wrote about the forces and motions within their Rube Goldbergs.

You may ask what is a Rube Goldberg Machine?

A “Rube Goldberg Machine” is an extremely complicated device that executes a very simple task in a complex, indirect way. This is now used as an expression to describe any system that's confusing or complicated and came about from Rube Goldberg's illustrations of absurd machines.

Students first chose their end action. Then they had to have 5 actions in their chain of events which led up to their final event.
