School Counselor Bio
September 11, 2009
Hi Everyone!
My name is Jamie Justesen, and I am the high school counselor. This is my first year at Missouri Valley, and I am really excited to be here! My primary goal as a counselor is to support the career, academic, and personal/social development of students. My favorite part of being a counselor is getting to help students with postsecondary planning. I enjoy getting to explore college and career options and help them make decisions about their future. I try to provide information and support to students and their parents in order to make the planning process a little easier. In addition to my role as a counselor, I also serve as a senior class sponsor, a DREAM sponsor, and am the Student Council sponsor.
I am originally from Treynor, IA. I received my Bachelor's Degree in psychology with a minor in sociology from the University of Nebraska, Omaha in 2006. For the last three years, I have been working at Iowa Western Community College in Council Bluffs where I served as the career and technical education grants coordinator for the high schools in AEA 13. I am currently pursuing my Master's Degree in Education from Wayne State College and plan to graduate in May 2010.
As many of you might have noticed, my name has recently changed. I got married on October 10, 2009. I live in Council Bluffs, IA with my husband, Adam, and our dog, Xena.
Please be sure to check the "Counseling Center" web page often. I will keep it up-to-date with important college planning information.
