Hi there!
I'm Heather Urban, the Missouri Valley High School Counselor. I am a member of the American School Counselor Association (ASCA), the Iowa School Counselor Association (ISCA), and the Iowa Association for College Admission Counseling (IACAC). At Missouri Valley, I sponsor Student Council, DREAM, Friends of Rachel, and the senior class. I also serve on the Missouri Valley Student Services Team and the High School Reform Committee.
I started as the Missouri Valley High School Counselor in 2005. I graduated from The University of Iowa with my Master of Arts degree in K-12 School Counseling in May, 2005. Prior to that, I received my Bachelor of Arts degree in 7-12 Health Education from The University of Northern Iowa after student teaching at Ankeny High School in 2003. I served as a substitute teacher in seven different school districts in and around the Iowa City area while completing my graduate work.
As a School Counselor, I serve as an advocate for all students in the areas of academic, career, and personal-social development. I encourage all students to visit with me regarding any or all of these significant areas before, during, or after school.
My experiences at MVHS have been rewarding, and I look forward to more!
