Middle School Girls Participate in State Meet at Ankeny

Several members of the middle school girls track team recently participated in the state middle school track meet held annually in Ankeny, IA.  This meet is open to all middle school girls throughout the state and is broken into two classes.  Missouri Valley competes in the small school class of 2A and 1A schools.

Participants included:  Paige Pauley, Breezy Weaver, Mona Churchill, Hailey Hellstrom, Justice Wilson, Katie Rohe, Heather Jones, Jodi Roth and Tabby Pickett.

Scoring points at such a large meet can be quite an achievement and we were fortunate enough to bring home 4 medals by scoring a 4th place in the Distance Medley Relay.  The members of this team, Hailey Hellstrom, Justice Wilson, Jodi Roth, and Breezy Weaver ran time of 5:10.20 over the course of this mile long relay.

Jodi Roth earned herself a spot in the finals of the 77Meter hurdles and finished in 8th place.

Breezy Weaver and Paige Pauley compete strongly in the 1500 meter run. Breezy finished in 7th place and Paige came in at 12th overall.

We had several other top ten finishes.  Breezy competed in the 1500 meter run. Her time of 5:52 earned her a 9th place finish.  Heather ran a 32 second 200 meter dash to finish 9th. Jodi Roth added another top 10 finish in the 400 meter dash by finishing 9th in a time of 1:11, and Breezy Weaver rounded out our top 10's by finishing 7th in the 800 meter run; just one spot out of the medals.  ALL of our girls competed wonderfully on this brisk and windy day and we couldn't be more proud of them for their efforts this season.

The cold weather did not deter us from having a blast at the state meet. The girls and parents will tell you that this was an amazing event. We look forward to next year!

We'd also like to thank the parents who supported these young ladies.  Their energy and enthusiasm at the meet were such a wonderful addition to this already wonderful event.

We really look forward to competing at Ankeny again next year! :)
