Meet the Teacher
Mrs. Renz's Letter to Parents & Mission Statement
by Gale Renz
March 08, 2008
My name is Gale Renz
and I am one of the teachers at Missouri Valley High School who
will be working with your child this year. I would like to take
this opportunity to let you know how happy I am to have your child
in my class. I teach Basic English, Basic Science and
Community Living where we will learn about career preparation,
social skills and daily living skills.
We will focus on developing problem-solving and decision-making
skills in all of my classes, as those are skills necessary for
success throughout our lives. We will all work together to achieve
our goals and hope to have a lot of fun in the process! We all
learn better when we enjoy the learning process.
My goals for this year are to create a warm, secure and
inviting learning environment and to excite a love of learning in
my students. The students will have opportunities for input about
our class goals and activities, as well as responsibilities within
the classroom community. My best efforts will be made to help meet
their needs. If you have specific educational goals and/or concerns
regarding your child, I would appreciate your sharing them with me.
Together we can insure that your child has the opportunities needed
to help develop his/her full potential.
Each school district has its own mission statement, so as a teacher
I decided that it would help me to focus on what I really want to
accomplish in the classroom if I developed my own mission
statement. I would like to share it with you and welcome any
comments and/or suggestions that will enable me to better serve
your child in my classroom.
My Mission
Statement:
My mission is to find, in each child, those strengths and gifts
that make them each unique. I will nurture these traits through
loving and caring for each child. I will do my best each day to
provide each child with opportunities to make good choices as they
grow and develop their gifts. By helping each child to recognize
and own their gifts, I will to encourage them accept responsibility
for using those gifts to make the world a better place for
themselves and others to live. I will facilitate this through
consistent, positive reinforcement of my belief in their ability to
be and do anything they so choose in this life.
If you have any
questions or concerns regarding your childs progress, please
contact me at (712) 642-4149 during school hours or at home at
(712) 647-2973 (home) or (712) 592-2116 (cell) outside of school
hours up until 9 PM in the evening. I will look forward to meeting
you throughout the year and welcome your involvement and input
regarding your child's educational needs.
Respectfully,
Gale Renz, Special Education & Community Living
