Spring Music Events

The music department will be a busy place this spring. The High School choral deparment has already had SW ICDA Honor Choir on Feb. 11 at IWCC. It was attended by Valyn Reinig, Victoria Arrowsmith, Chelsie Peters, Alexandria Popejoy, Tadd Arrick, CJ Kraushaaur, Adam Sears and Dylan Ford.
The Junior High chorus will be sending 9 students to Atlantic, IA on March 25 for SW ICDA Middle School Honor Choir. The nine students and two alternates have begun practicing for this event. Those students are Alex Clausen, Brandon Hotz, Carlee McKee, Paige Pauley, Hannah West, Miranda Hoffman, Suzette Cote, Ethan Linnertz, Maggie Hawley, Courtney Cunard, Raelea Jones. It is an afternoon of rehearsal with students from other schools in southwest Iowa and then a 7 pm concert. Admission is charged at the door.
WIC Honor Band will be on March 11 at Tri-Center High School. It is an afternoon of rehearsal with band members chosen from the Western Iowa Conference Schools. It is truly the best of the best. High School members are Destiny Bezrutczyk, JD Bezrutczyk, Jade Collier, Sarah Sager, Chelsie Peters, Kristin Oliphant, Mattie Jensen, Ashton Hoffman, Taylor McKee and Michael Hynes. Junior High students attending are Alex Clausen, Brandon Hotz, Maggie Hawley, Devon Jensen, Tim Dillinger, Savana Carona, Miranda Hoffman and Hannah West. Admission is charged at the door. Adults $5, Students $3.
On April 5, 17 High School students will travel to Tri-Center for Iowa High School Music Association Solo and Small Ensemble Contest. They will perform a variety of solos, duets and ensembles. This event is free and open to the public.
April 25 will be the Annual High School Pops Concert held in the auditorium at 7:00 pm. This event is a variety of band, choral, solo and small ensemble pieces. This event is free and open to the public.
May 6 the Junior High Music Students will be performing their spring concert. This event will also be a variety of large and small instrumental and choral works. It will be held in the gym at 7 pm and is free and open to the public.
Cabaret will be held May 8 with the time to be announced. This is a special time for all fine arts students, visual arts, drama, speech as well as music receive their awards at a very special function sponsored by the Fine Arts Club.
