Course Content: This course will consist of a review of grammar and verb forms learned in Spanish I. It will also introduce students to the more complex verb forms of the progressive, perfect tenses, and subjunctive. This course will explore the cultural aspects of the Spanish speaking world as well. As in Spanish I, there will be a focus on expanding the four basic language skills of listening, speaking, reading, and writing.
Course Requirements:Students’ responsibilities will include:
- Class participation.
- Note taking
- Completing Homework
Major Projects:
- 4 Oral Presentations based upon chapter vocabulary and grammar throughout the year. (2 per semester)
Basis For Grading: Your final grade will be determined by:
Quarter grades will consist of:
50% tests and quizzes. Some will be unannounced.
25% daily work
25% participation
- This consists of 2 important aspects:
1. Speak English only when you raise your hand.
2. Look like you are paying attention.
- Everyone starts with 100 points for participation. 5 points are lost for each infraction.
Semester grade will consist of
40% 1st Quarter Grade
40% 2nd Quarter Grade
20% Final Exam
Behavior Guidelines:
- Late homework WILL NOT be accepted. If a student has an excused absence homework may be made up, but must be turned in the following day.
- Come to class prepared. Have your course materials ready. You will not be allowed to leave the classroom to go to your locker.
- Use Spanish only when designated. No English will be allowed during these times, as it will assist you in developing an ability to communicate in Spanish.
- Any time you interrupt class to go to your locker or the restroom you will lose 5 points.
- Be respectful of other students and Sr. Jensen. Avoid behavior that prevents others from learning.
- Use of Internet translators to complete assignments is not allowed. This will result in a zero.
