Eighth Grade News Update

Wow, we are already half way through the 2nd quarter. Time is passing by quickly and the eighth graders are accomplishing a lot each day. We are challenging our students in many ways such as reading comprehension, math skills and understanding the constitution. We stress to the kids every day how important it is to utilize their time wisely so they can get the best education available to them.
Some of our eighth graders are currently involved in a community service project here in town. Several students report to the Rand Center and Longview Nursing Home to help serve lunch. This service project is a win-win situation. Our kids are learning communication skills as well as establishing their work ethics, and the people they are visiting truly enjoy the company.
Most of our eighth graders are currently participating in extracurricular activities. The boys are playing basketball and the girls are dancing at the half time of the basketball games. If you would like to support our students, just show up to one of the games. The kids love to show case their talents.
Lastly, we have been training the kids how to prevent bullying. This includes learning skills such as anger management, steps to take and how to be proactive. We have been doing this since school started and will continue to communicate the importance of this issue all year. As a school, we are taking a strong stand in the fight against bullying by not accepting it at any level.
