High School: Teaching Staff: Deupree

FACS Department

by Mary Deupree

October 20, 2005

This is my second year as the Missouri Valley High School Family and Consumer Science teacher. The classes being taught this semester are four sections of Basic Foods, two sections of Advanced Foods, and one section of Contemporary Living. Second semester plans are for two sections of Child Development, one section of Needlework, three sections of Global Foods, and one section of Culinary Arts.  Culinary Arts is a new class offering in which students will be learning how to set up and run a small business, a "mock" restaurant.  In this "mock" restaurant we will have "hands-on" experience running a business, planning and preparing menus every 4-5 weeks for people in the community and staff to dine at  Keep checking this site for updates as to serving dates and what the menu is.  Once I learn more about this system, the more information I can provide to parents and interested community members.

Two student groups I am a sponsor for are, Junior Class Prom and FCCLA (Family, Career, and Community Leaders of America), formally known as FHA. I am hoping to understand better how to use this program so activities for both organization can be posted to help you know and plan for upcoming events involving your child.

I graduated from Wayne State College with a degree in Vocational Home Economics and a minor in music and art.  Over my twenty plus years of teaching I have taught each one of these endorsements.
