Local Scholarships Criteria

Criteria for the Universal Scholarships:

 

1.        ARLENE VAN CLEAVE MEMORIAL:  Citizenship, work ethic, and attending a 4-year school.

 

2.        ARRILA BENNET BICE:  Awarded to a student who is in the top ½ of the senior class, who has been involved with the community and who has overcome difficulty in his or her high school career and is furthering their education at any school of higher learning (trade/voc/college).  An essay must be included on the Universal Scholarship Application.

 

3.        BETTY BROTHER’S MEMORIAL:

 

4.        BILL MCINTOSH MEMORIAL:

 

5.        MV BOOSTER CLUB:  Senior athlete who has a GPA in the upper 50% of the class and who has participated in at least two sports for 4 years.  Must have earned six letters during high school and demonstrated leadership and sportsmanship during athletic career.  Must enroll in a post-secondary program by the second semester after graduation and parents must be members of the Booster Club.  Deadline for membership to the Booster Club is March 1.

 

6.        BRENT THOMAS MEMORIAL:  Awarded to a senior that will attend a vocational/community college or a university.  The student does not need to be an athlete and should have a GPA within the 2.0 to 3.0 range.

 

7.        BROOKHOUSER FAMILY MEMORIAL:

 

8.        BRYAN JENSEN MEMORIAL:

 

9.        CHAPTER OF THE EASTERN STAR:  Senior girl who writes a letter of application.

 

10.     FRANK BURKE AWARD:  Award for citizenship, GPA, and class rank.

 

11.     FRATERNAL ORDER OF THE EAGLES:  Based upon financial need, work ethic, leadership, reliability, maturity, and involvement in school and community.

 

12.     MISSOURI VALLEY KIWANIS SCHOLARSHIP:  Graduating senior who is actively involved in Key Club and the community, and who will be attending an accredited school, college, or university for a period of two years or more.

 

13.     KNIGHTS OF COLUMBUS:  Eligible student must have demonstrated outstanding performance in Social Studies throughout high school career.  Financial need is taken into consideration.

 

14.     MASONIC VALLEY LODGE:  Must be a male student.  Based on GPA, class rank, and citizenship. Scholastic with an emphasis on math and science.

 

15.     McDONALD’S OF HARRISON COUNTY:  Will be awarded to a senior on the basis of academic achievement, leadership, citizenship, and service to school and community.

 

16.     MIDSTATES BANK:  Senior who has been accepted to a college or university.  Must prepare a summary of school achievements, community service, future plans, and other information required by Missouri Valley High School.

 

17.     MV CHAMBER OF COMMERCE:

 

18.     MV COMMUNITY FOUNDATION:

 

19.     MISSOURI VALLEY TIMES NEWS:  Graduating senior who is going into journalism, communications, or advertising.

 

20.     PEO IONE LIDDICOAT:  Female student who will be attending a 2- or 4-year college or university and pursuing a career in education.  Financial need.

 

21.     PEOPLES NATIONAL BANK:  Student must be attending a 4-year institution to obtain a terminal degree.  Based on student being in the top 25% of academic class.  Broad range in school and community activities. 

 

22.     RAND FAMILY:  Senior who has outstanding scholastic achievement, leadership, citizenship, and participation in school activities.  Scholarship may be used at a 2-yr, 4-yr, Voc. Tech, or Business School program.

 

23.     RANDALL P. BUSH MEMORIAL: Must have a relative working at Vulcan Industries.

 

24.     ROBERT P. WARNER:  Graduating senior with a 3.0 or higher GPA and accepted to an accredited school for a period of one year or longer.

 

25.     SGT. PEFFER:  To any senior pursuing further education and showing academic achievement, leadership, citizenship and service to school and community.

 

26.     TOM RYAN AWARD:  To a student pursuing a career in the Industrial Arts.

 

27.     VERN LIDDICOAT MEMORIAL:  Student pursuing a Biology/Science field.

 

28.     WOODMEN OF THE WORLD:  A graduating senior who is in the upper half of the class.  Financial need, character, motivation, and achievement also considered.

 

29.     WRESTLING CLUB:  Must have been involved in the Little Kids Program.  Must have participated in four years of high school wrestling and a GPA of 2.5 or higher.
